    Employee Achievement: Standing Out of Your Colleagues

    You don’t do your best in high school and especially in university to become a mediocre rank and file employee at a dead end job. Everybody puts on their greatest effort to advance their careers and get themselves to the best possible situations in their lives. All the work that you clock in is just one of the steps as you climb the corporate ladder in your current place of employment. Are you up for it?

    Climbing up the corporate ladder or advancing in your career is always easier said than done. It’s exhausting physically, mentally and even emotionally. While you can always motivate yourself to work hard, if you are not noticed by the people who matter (i.e. your line managers and other superiors), your efforts will be an exercise in futility. With this in mind, you need to market yourself and you need to do it in a way that will be effective. You need to make sure that you are remembered for all the right reasons. You need to see to it that you are noticed—that you stand out from the rest of your colleagues.

    Again, this is much easier said than done; in a company that’s cutthroat, there are several other employees who are just as talented as you and are after the same promotion as you. But there are some ways you can get yourself noticed—and that does not always involve warming up to the higher-ups. Here are some of the things to keep in mind.

    Improve yourself

    Learning must never stop. Just because you are an expert at doing one thing doesn’t mean that you should rest on your laurels and be complacent. You need to acquire new skills so that you can get exposed to new jobs and explore other territories. This is why you need to undergo professional training and similar gatherings.     Become proactive

Don’t be the toxic colleague who will rant about everything you think is wrong with the company or the people who run it. You need to be part of the initiators who will find the solutions to the problems. Remember why you are hired—you are supposed to find a solution to a problem. Becoming a proactive person redirects your effort supposedly allotted for complaints.

    Be a leader

    If you want to get noticed, you need to make sure that you have the qualities of a leader. You ought to show your bosses that you can manage tasks and people at the same time—that you can easily delegate. When that happens, you may even get a shot at a promotion.

    Get noticed. Market yourself. Have your own personal breading. That is the definitive away to leave an impression in your employers or hiring manager. You need to wow them!
